Introduction

When we moved here in 1997 to find that the garden was quite neglected. Since that time we have spent many hours tidying it up and redesigning it to our taste. Being an engineer with a military background I like the garden neat and tidy but not with too many straight lines!

As with all gardens, ours changes constantly as plants mature (or die) or we have new ideas of how to improve it. Some works are fairly major projects with the latest being to replace a wooden retaining wall which we built about 15 years ago and which had now rotted.

We got a local firm to install used wooden railway sleepers which we then faced with split rails – this should last a very long time. The garden continues to produce a lovely show of flowers and a wide range of vegetables.

When we are not carrying out routine weeding and general maintenance, it provides us with a quiet place to relax.

Our gallery presents a view as the garden wakes up  starting in January this year
