The Crooked Furrow band have been around forever! Formed in the mid 1980s as a Wurzels tribute band, hence the name, the only remaining founding member is Mark the accordion player.

I was invited to join in 1989 as the banjo player had left and I happened to have a banjo, my playing abilities did not feature in the selection!

We eventually moved from Wurzels music to more mainstream and Irish Folk and noticed people dancing to some of the lovely Irish Folk tunes. The move towards being mainly a ceilidh band was quite gradual, initially we would bring in callers for dance gigs but I decided to do the calling myself. With much help from Pip Oxenbury from The Five Prong Pick (remember them?) I gradually learned more dances and have been calling for nearly 30 years now.

Current line up is Mark on accordion, Judy on fiddle/flute and myself calling, playing bass guitar and occasional banjo.
