Saturday October 3 @ 8:00 pm£15
Julian Dawson is a musician’s musician. He has recorded 25 albums, written hundreds of songs and collaborated with some of contemporary music’s finest players and writers: Dan Penn, Vince Gill, Lucinda Williams, Richard Thompson and Little Feat all appear in his 40-year history as a performer.
Most recently a selection of his finest recordings were compiled on two lavishly presented triple CD box sets: Life And Soul Vols. I and II. As an author his internationally acclaimed biography of pianist Nicky Hopkins will shortly be followed by an authorised memoir written for ’60s legend Spencer Davis.
But in the end it is the songs, the voice and the charisma (not to mention that wicked harmonica playing!) that have given Dawson such a long and varied career. The music is a melodic and highly individual blend of the best elements of folk, country and soul with an unmistakable tinge of pop smarts…and great lyrics!
This show at his favourite local venue will be his farewell to Somerset.
