Celebrate 160 years of the Building that now homes The David Hall
We are delighted to let you know that at our performance venue, The David Hall in South Petherton, will be celebrating the 160th anniversary of our building on Sunday 24 September.
On the same day in 1863 the building was opened as the new Congregational Chapel serving the community of South Petherton and its environs. Many of the original features of the Grade II listed building remain in what is now our thriving arts centre.
We have teamed up with members of South Petherton History group who researched the history of the building and the non-conformist heritage of the area. The building will be open from 12pm with an archive of photos, intriguing facts, records and artefacts on display.
We have invited our good friends Trio Paradis to perform a free special café concert with music from across the last 160 years, marking key dates and transformational changes in society and culture. Donations are welcomed at the end of the performance.
Our volunteers will be serving tea, coffee and cakes from 2.30 pm with the café concert starting at 3 pm. We would be very pleased it you could JOIN US to celebrate our heritage.
